WIPO GREEN Acceleration Project Officially Launches in the Philippine Fishery Sector

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in partnership with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) and Eco Innovation Consultancy Inc. (EICI), as the consultant and facilitator, held its kick-off meeting to officially launch the WIPO GREEN Acceleration Project in the Philippine Fishery Sector on March 18, 2026. The project will cover different fishery subsectors, including commercial fisheries, municipal fisheries, and aquaculture.

This project aims to mobilize innovative technologies to address environmental/climate change challenges by facilitating tangible connections between entities seeking green technology solutions and the solution providers that can deliver them. The project will also promote technology through the WIPO GREEN Database, a solutions-oriented, global innovation catalog that connects needs for solving environmental or climate change problems with tangible solutions. All identified needs and technologies will be uploaded to the WIPO GREEN database and to the catalog that will be released at the end of the project.

This initiative will enable a two-prong benefits initiative. First, the beneficiaries will be the technology seekers or stakeholders seeking technological solutions to their pressing problems. EICI will be the bridge connecting them to the technologies they seek to address their existing problems in the fishery sector with the technology providers or those who already have the technology to address such problems. This will also enable technological promotion to Technology Providers through matchmaking activities and global visibility through the WIPO GREEN platform.

By the end of 2026, the project will establish successful, tangible links between technology providers and technology seekers and promote technologies at a global scale, providing visibility and possible opportunities for technology providers.
